The complete family consists of 6 weights ranging from Thin to Black. Different humanist design features give this typeface its distinctive characteristics. The geometric letters as well as a well-balanced kerning ensure great legibility. Mariya V. Pigoulevskaya designed the Merel typeface with a soft and gentle touch. It’s intended for the use as modern display font for print and onscreen. The Merel typeface is characterized by a reduced x-height, mild stroke contrast, and vertically sheared terminals.
