Have a look at this award-winning house in Sèvres, France by Colboc Franzen & Associés.
The architects of Colboc Franzen & Associés have created the “R House”, a modern family home in Sèvres, France.
Located in a Parisian suburb, the house has been designed for a couple and their three children. The property was occupied by an orchard and an old gardener’s shed. After a detailed briefing with the client, the architects decided to develop a concept that preserves the old shed and the trees. The result is a family house composed of three distinctive volumes. The lowest level includes the basement as well as an office, laundry room, and the garages. The next volume can be described as the main area with included living and dining room as well as kitchen and the parental suite. Located at the top floor are the children’s bedrooms, which are organized around a multipurpose space.
The concept of a superimposed construction has been chosen due to the small size of the property. The first volume has been created using parts of the old shed. This area is half buried in the slope of the site. The second volume sits above the slope with access to the terrace the garden. With plenty of space, this area is dedicated to the collective family life. The third volume is covered with pine wood, matching the predominant color shades of the neighborhood. In addition, the wooden cladding is also a wink to the old orchard.
