The selected artworks were created with gesso on board as well as additional materials such as ink, tinted clay, and palladium leaf. He is working extensively with the surface by scratching or partially removing layers. The resulting lines and shapes convey the illusion of depth.
A selection of his work is currently on display at Marlborough Chelsea gallery in New York City. His solo show “Summer Solstice” features new paintings of layered gesso, burnishing clay, ink, pigments and precious metal leafing. The show will run until July 29, 2016.
