Turning a festival’s most unpredictable factor into a campaign through data and graphic design, a case study by CLEVER°FRANKE and Studio Bas Koopmans.
Established in 2009 with the ambition to drive change in festival production by means of sustainability, Into The Great Wide Open (ITGWO) is an annual three-day music festival that takes place in Vlieland, the Netherlands.
The creative people at agency CLEVER°FRANKE have been invited to collaborate with Studio Bas Koopmans to create a campaign design for the 2019 edition of the festival. The graphic design concept uses weather data as the main source of inspiration despite its uncontrollable nature. Both the design process and results were unknown at the beginning of the project, which resulted in a distinct visual language.
