Eyes on Dutch artist Roos van der Vliet and her hair-entrapped portraits.
Last year I’ve featured a selection of paintings of Roos van der Vliet‘s ‘Storytellers’ portrait series. You can see them here. A lot has happened since! The Dutch artist has been painting like crazy, and she produced a lot of new portraits. Her work has been shared several times on the internet and in various social networks. And above all, a prestigious Dutch gallery wanted her to work with them. So from September 24 till October 15, 2016, she will have a new solo show at KochXBos Gallery in Amsterdam. The gallery will present a body of new paintings as well as older artworks from the Storytellers series. Read more below.
In a recent e-mail, Roos sent me a couple of new paintings and I’m pleased to share some of these beautiful pieces with you. In a hyper-realistic style, the Dutch artist creates portraits of girls, which are partially masked by their own hair. She usually focuses on the head, while all other areas of the body are hidden (with a few exceptions). You can find more examples of her creative work below. For further information about the artist, feel free and visit Roos van der Vliet’s website.
