Space Frames, a series of abstract light volumes designed by Studio Mieke Meijer.
Studio Mieke Meijer was founded by Mieke Meijer and Roy Letterlé. The two Eindhoven, Netherlands based designers work on both self-initiated and commissioned projects. Besides their collaborative work, they give lectures and workshops at diverse educational and cultural institutions. The abstract volumes of the ‘Space Frames’ series give you a great insight into their creative work. They used materials such as plywood, polyester fabric along with latest LED technology to create a collection of light volumes. Each object of the ‘Space Frames’ series is based on architectural forms such as arcs, columns, trusses, and plates. The designers say it’s “an experimental research into physical and visual lightness, balance and stability.”
The collection comprises different objects which can be arranged freely. This way, countless combinations are possible. Whether alone or all together, the light volumes seem to create an interaction with the surrounding space.
