A Global Journey Finds Its Home:
The owners, a well-traveled couple, chose Vila do Conde as their ultimate destination after exploring the world. Their decision to settle in this charming Portuguese town set the stage for a unique design challenge: creating a space that honors their individual experiences while forging a new, shared identity.

Design Philosophy:
Edmundo*’s approach focused on crafting environments of emotional comfort that evoke memories and past experiences while simultaneously weaving a new narrative. Each room was conceived as a distinct entity, yet part of a cohesive whole, interconnected by transitional elements such as the ceiling, which ensures unity and a welcoming atmosphere throughout the apartment.

The Main Challenge:
The primary objective was to create a space rooted in the owners’ personal references while projecting a new, shared identity. This delicate balance was achieved through careful material selection, custom design elements, and a thoughtful approach to space planning.

Edmundo*’s multicultural apartment in Vila do Conde is a fine example of how global influences can be harmoniously integrated into local architecture. By creating a neutral and serene environment, the design serves as a blank canvas for the couple’s new chapter, while honoring their rich, diverse experiences from around the world.
