Happy Go Lucky, an exhibition by contemporary artist Shawn Huckins at Galerie Bessiéres.
Shawn Huckins is a contemporary painter who lives and works in Denver, Colorado. His new series of paintings is debuting in Chatou, France at Galerie Bessiéres this October 2019. Huckins’ work has been shown extensively throughout the US and this exhibition at Galerie Bessiéres will be his first international solo exhibition. Please read more below.
With the exhibition titled ‘Happy Go Lucky,’ this series of ten new paintings is a collection of meticulously replicated paintings from French artists of the 18th and 19th centuries. Superimposed over the classical portraits are hand-painted texts from 21st-century digital lexicons—tweets, texting acronyms, technological icons—that permeate today’s popular culture.
