Jaybo Monk – Contemporary Artist

The contemporary art of Jaybo Monk.

Jaybo aka Monk (whose real name is Jeremy Baudouin) is a French artist who lives in Berlin, Germany. At the age of 14, he left his home to live for several years on the streets of Paris and Toulouse. During this time, he came in touch with the local street art scene. The following years he was active as a street actor andartist as well as rapper at the Hip Hop crew ‘Reality Brothers’. After moving to Berlin in 1986, he co-founded the lifestyle magazine “Style and the Family Tunes”. In 1994, the creative mind has launched the fashion label Irie Daily, where he still works as chief designer. During all these years he was still working as an artist.

As an artist he loves to work with a variety of materials. Many of his paintings or installations have been shown in numerous exhibitions around the world. Jaybo Monk is represented by the Soze Gallery in Los Angeles and the Kallenbach Gallery in Amsterdam. In addition, he is part of the artists collective Agents of Change based in London as well as the artists collective Le Grand Verre, which is based in Milan.
