Shila Khatami’s art is characterized by a variety of influences. Not only on closer inspection you will find references from pop cultural elements. The artist loves to experiment with different materials, forms, and techniques. Shila Khatami often uses random objects found in hardware stores. As the base for her artworks, she uses materials such as aluminum, hardboard, pegboards or even isolation foam. As varied as the choice of materials, as diverse and unique is her painting process. Khatami often works with a variety of unconventional tools such as masking tape or rubber bands. By rolling, dripping, and scoring, the artist creates a diversity of abstract and geometric shapes.
