‘Purpose’, a new exhibition by Anna Conway is taking place in Italy at Collezione Maramott.
Besides its permanent collection, the Collezione Maramotti in Reggio Emilia, Italy often shows temporary exhibitions of talented artist as well as diverse commissioned projects. From March 6 – July 31, 2016, Collezione Maramotti proudly presents Anna Conway‘s first exhibition in Europe. In 2015, the American painter created four new artworks especially for this exhibition called ‘Purpose’.
The New York City based artist is known for her equally precise and methodical style. Her work represents different scenes, which combine detailed observations and imagination.
The show displays five canvases – four of which created in 2015 especially for this project – that are the result of an exceptional period of engagement for Anna Conway, a painter who has only made 26 artworks in the past fifteen years. These paintings, with titles that refer to inspirational affirmations (It’s not going to happen like that, Devotion, Determination, Perseverance and Potential) are suspended between an analytical depiction of reality and a dreamlike dimension, between autobiography and imagination, with her own personal style and narrative, in which the attention to time and space is central, evoking at the same time an affinity between life and painting, both imbued with intention and with mystery.
On this occasion, the permanent collection and the group show Industriale Immaginario will be open too. To celebrate this new show at Collezione Maramotti, there is a private view (by invitation only!) on March 5, 2016, at 6.00pm. The artist will be present. The show will be open to public from March 6 – July 31, 2016 at Collezione Maramotti, Via Fratelli Cervi 66, 42124 Reggio Emilia, Italy. For additional information, please follow the link.
