Ryan Heshka was born in Manitoba, Canada, and grew up in Winnipeg. Today he lives and works in Vancouver. In his early childhood he discovered his passion for drawing and painting as well as making super 8 films. His hand painted vintage illustrations are inspired by good old poster paintings and magazine covers. His early influences include antiquated comics and pulp magazines, natural history, graphic design, music as well as movies and animations.
The self-taught artist and illustrator is represented by Kate Larkworthy. His illustrative work has been published in magazines and newspapers such as Vanity Fair, Playboy, Wall Street Journal, Esquire, the New York Times, and Smart Money. Ryan Heshka participated in numerous gallery shows across North America and Europe. Currently, the artist is working on picture book projects for children as well as adults.
