A minimalist grip lamp designed by Yiannis Ghikas for Creaid 2016.
Designed for Creaid’s designers lights project 2016, Yiannis Ghikas came up with the idea of a minimalist lamp that draws inspiration from a simple bicycle grip holding a light bulb. For the entire manufacturing process, the Greek product and industrial designer teamed up with Giorgos Sofos-Gsa Metaltech. The simple bulb symbolizes the initial idea at the beginning of every creative process. A stable base with a pattern has been designed in the form of a bicycle grip. Specifications of the grip lamp.
Manufactured from CNC-milled solid brass, the base has a height of 97 mm and a diameter of 55 mm. The E27 bulb has a diameter of 125mm. A twisted textile cable cord conveys a subtle vintage look. All lights of the series will be auctioned online. They will be presented in an exhibition called “Designer Lights” at One Athens, in April 2016. The exhibition’s aim is to raise money for a new playground for the Athens General Children’s Hospital.
