The skilled architects of Archstudio designed a modern waterside Buddhist shrine in a rural forest in Tangshan, Hebei, China.
Back in 2015, the team of Archstudio designed a modern waterside Buddhist shrine, a place intended for Buddhist mediation, thinking, and contemplation. Furthermore, it’s also a place satisfying the needs of daily life.
The building is placed on a riverbank in the forest near the city of Tangshan. The architectural concept is mainly based on a close connection to the environment. That’s why the architects decided to use the grounding method to hide the building under a mound of earth. At the same time, the natural character is represented by a flowing interior concept. The shape of the plan looks like branches extending under the existing forest.
Below you can see a few images of the building. For more of Archstudio’s creative work, feel free to visit their website.
