Graphic design, brand development, and packaging design by Lavernia & Cienfuegos for Utopick Chocolates.
Paco Llopis is a master chocolatier who’s constantly searching for new ideas, techniques, and flavors. For his brand Utopick Chocolates, he uses a selected range of cocoa pods bought directly from local producers in Latin America. Lavernia & Cienfuegos, a Valencia, Spain based graphic design studio was tasked to create a new visual experience along with a unique packaging solution in order to communicate the craftsmanship and creativity of this exceptional master chocolatier. Paco Llopis already had a name (Utopick) and a symbol, a ship representing the spirit of adventure as well as a long voyage. In a first step, the ship symbol has been transformed into an origami boat. Based on this idea, the creative team has developed a unique way of folding the paper to wrap the bars. The same shapes have been reproduced on the chocolate bar, which is pre-cut into several triangles.
