Another Day in Paradise, Mike Mellia’s photo series of cinematic scenes around New York City.
Mike Mellia is an American photographer who works for numerous renowned clients from the fashion, advertising and publishing industry. In addition to his commercial projects, he creates self initiated photo collections. Mike Mellia’s work has been exhibited around the USA and Europe. He is a New York City native and a graduate of Columbia University. You may remember his exhibition “Our Side of the Story: South Sudan“, where he teamed up with top model Nykhor Paul and some other people from South Sudan.
“Another Day in Paradise” is the name of another great photo project by Mike Mellia. After the unexpected passing of his father at age 62, he started to work on this series. He began creating cinematic scenes of places around New York City, which were reminiscent of his father’s life. Another Day in Paradise is more about unsettling locations than Manhattan’s huge skyscrapers and famous places. These surroundings unveil a cold and strangely beauty, just like stills of a movie. Each image of the series seems to tell a story about another day in paradise.
