In the Corona crisis, street artist Banksy thanked the medical staff with a new painting in the General Hospital in Southampton.
Banksy’s new artwork shows a boy kneeling and letting a nurse doll hover in the air in his hand. Wearing a face mask, cape, and an apron with a red cross, she stretches out her hand just like Superman. In the wastebasket in front of the boy are a Spiderman and a Batman model figure—discarded in favor of a new favorite action hero. According to the BBC, Banksy left a note with his art donation in the hospital, which read: “Thanks for all you’re doing. I hope this brightens the place up a bit, even if its only black and white.”
The one-square-meter painting will remain at Southampton General Hospital until autumn when it will be auctioned to raise money for the NHS, the BBC reported. The painting is now on view to staff and patients on Level C of the Southampton General.
