BAOBAO – Branding for a Dim Sum Bar

BAOBAO, a lovely designed restaurant brand identity by Eszter Laki for a dim sum bar.

The BAOBAO dim sum bar is a place that combines a Pan-Asian mixture of flavors with top-notch quality.

Eszter Laki, a Budapest, Hungary based graphic designer was hired to develop a suitable brand identity for the restaurant. In the making of the identity, she drew her inspiration from several Far East travels including Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos. The creative team of 81font Architecture was responsible for the entire restaurant interior design. They skillfully combined Hungarian craftsmanship with the lovely and natural style of eastern culture. A Hungarian basket-maker artist was hired to create a series of woven ceiling lamps according to the interior design concept. A Vietnamese tale, “The Hundred-knot Bamboo Tree” is printed on the woven fibers, which creates a strong cultural relationship to the Far East folk art.

Different drawings by Eszter Laki were used for the interior’s imagery including some dim sum drawings, which were painted on the wall after projection. A strong red tone was chosen as corporate colore. Eszter Laki’s work included the creation of a distinctive logo as well as a range of printed matters.
