Edge of Space – Yasuaki Onishi’s latest solo exhibition at ARTCOURT Gallery in Osaka Japan.
Japanese contemporary artist and sculptor Yasuaki Onishi sent us some images and additional information of his latest solo show ‘Edge of Space’ at ARTCOURT Gallery in Osaka Japan. Yasuaki Onishi is an internationally acclaimed artist who creates themes of volume, gravity, and distance. Using a mix of materials that do not retain shapes easily, his sculptures store up the viewer’s boundless imagination. The artist says: “I am suggesting systems that go beyond the human hand to trigger the body sensations of sharing a work and a space, and I am exploring ways of knowing this world and its reverse.”
‘Edge of Space’ features several balloon-like volumes made with plastic sheets, thread, fan, timer, and other materials. Bathed in gradations of light as they repeatedly expand and contract, the balloons create a sense of an organic presence from inorganic material. Feel free to have a look at the following installation views. A video produced by studio Polar provides you with some additional information about the installation at Osaka, Japan based ARTCOURT Gallery.
