A video production by Sold Art online art gallery showing the creative process of Ugo Gattoni’s etching masterpiece ‘Sybille’s Bath’.
‘Sybille’s Bath’ is the name of the latest etching by artist and illustrator Ugo Gattoni. From the engraving on the copper plate through the acid bath up to the printing process in the press, Sold Art produced this great video in order to show you any step of the long creative process.
At the print shop of the URDLA, Ugo Gattoni achieved this beautiful etching under the friendly supervision of copperplate printer Vincent Brunet. ‘Sybille’s Bath’ is a dreamlike composition inspired by Ugo Gattoni’s girlfriend Sybille. It’s impressive to see how many steps it takes to the finished work of art. The documentary gives us a great insight of the entire creation process of this surreal artwork. In addition, it shows the amazing skills of both Ugo Gattoni and the artisan copperplate printer, Vincent Brunet.
