A modern, minimalist stone and concrete residence in Hyōgo, Japan designed by architecture studio GOSIZE.

Completed in 2017, the team of architecture studio GOSIZE has designed this modern and minimalist residence, which is mainly characterized by its rectangular shapes and the extensive use of concrete and stone. The house is located in Hyōgo, a Japanese prefecture in the Kansai region. When looking at the images below you will undoubtedly notice that the architectural concept has been reduced to the essentials while offering a good dose of luxury and spaciousness throughout the entire building. The house is a masterful example of contemporary brutalism combined with minimalist Japanese aesthetics. Read more below the following image.

Whether inside or outside, there is a strict concept of simple geometry throughout the entire building. The spacious rooms provide a unique indoor and outdoor living experience. Glass is widely used in all areas of different sizes, which connects a sophisticated floor to the ceiling paneling. In addition, the main living area provides a well-framed view of the surroundings. 1. The house appears to contrast two completely different styles, which is what makes it so unique. It brings a more minimalist style with perfected curves and a finished look into an industrial space that lacks a sense of completion. The exposed concrete form snap-ties combines with the outline of the form boards throughout the walls of the house add to the exaggerated unfinished look, considering that they are normally filled and covered up in most structures.
