Installation by Japanese artist Yasuaki Onishi

Vertical Emptiness GOoP.

“Vertical Emptiness GOoP” is the name of the latest installation by Japanese artist Yasuaki Onishi. In March 2014, the installation was shown in a solo exhibition at Gallery Out of Place TOKIO, Tokyo Japan.

The installation is made of wires, glue lines and believe it or not, crystallized urea. Yasuaki Onishi uses wire to create a mesh structure that hangs from the ceiling. The Japanese artist drips glue on the wire mesh structure and the glue runs along the wire to the ground. Crystallized urea appears on the lines and forms structures like landscapes. The wooden floor causes a brown crystallization at the bottom of the installation. Yasuaki Onishi’s installation is based on gravity, time, heat, and crystallization. All these components form countless surreal constructions and structures, which allow different interpretations. Additional paintings are covered with black glue and polished by graphite.

Below are some images of the installation and two additional paintings. The video at the end of the post gives some further information and impressions of Yasuaki Onishi’s art.
