House Lam in Bedfordview, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Nico van der Meulen Architects were approached to refresh the architecture design of an existing 1950’s house located in Bedfordview, Johannesburg, South Africa. The architects redesigned the first level of the house to accommodate the bedrooms and to transform the ground floor into an exclusively open plan living space. The new entrance was created at the lower ground floor of the 3 storey house and an internal staircase leads up to the open living area at the ground floor with stunning views of Johannesburg and its surrounds. The entire living area were designed around a large pool, which is a striking feature of the building. From the ground floor one can access the first floor bedroom suites and pyjama lounge.
Interior design practice M Square Lifestyle Design was entrusted to create the interior touches. They chose a natural wood finish that runs through the complete house. The used colors give the home a warm and comfortable feeling. Furthermore, the color palette of the the interior with the striking red in combination with dark grey shades was chosen to complement the colors of the building.
