Photographer Ivo Tavares has captured a small house converted into an inhabited work of art by architect Paulo Martins.
Ivo Tavares is a Portuguese photographer specializing in architecture and interior projects. He sent us images of one of his latest photographic projects. Just recently he has been commissioned to photograph a small house converted into an inhabited work of art by architect Paulo Martins.
The residence is located in one of the most typical and established areas of Aveiro (Beira Mar). It is the result of a passionate and challenging reform aimed at restoring a lifestyle to the city and its inhabitants. Placed on a 30 m long and just 2.5 m wide property, the house formally establishes itself as a habitable corridor filled with light and a sheltered backyard terrace.
The floor of the room where the bathroom and service area are located are covered with concrete. The building itself is covered and protected with dark green painted plasterboard, which is strictly shielded for its new and lively life cycle. On the one hand, the house offers a dark and intimate environment inside, but on the other hand, the exterior creates a conceptual and practical contrast with its white surfaces at the backyard that flood the house with brightness. All social functions have been planned to take place on the ground floor, in direct contact with the house’s backyard patio, while the upper floor level is reserved for both bedrooms and a solarium.
