The beautiful Sunshine Canyon Residence by THA Architecture.
The team of THA Architecture has completed the Sunshine Canyon Residence located just seven miles from Boulder, Colorado. The client was a married couple that lost their previous home in a forest fire near Boulder. After some consideration they purchased a new plot at a steep site with an elevation of 7500 feet.
THA Architecture designed a 2200-square-foot house that hovers above the slope of the hillside below and captures amazing views of the landscape. A simple structure shifts at the point of the entry between the garage and main house. Two slotted openings on the north side were placed to fill the floor of the main living space and the wall of the master bedroom with natural light from the outside.
The south side of the Sunshine Canyon Residence is almost completely glazed to offer great views and allowing the sun during the winter time to passively heat the radiant concrete mass floor.
