Textured Artworks by Koen Delaere

Eyes on Belgian artist Koen Delaere and his textured paintings.

Koen Delaere was born in 1970 in St Michiels, Brugges, Belgium. He studied Painting and Philosophy at Akademie voor Beeldende Vorming, Tilburg, NL. Koen Delaere loves to experiment with different materials and techniques to create unique pieces. The selected images below show paintings from a series of textured artworks. These pieces are not paintings in a traditional way. As surface, Koen Delaere used piled structures, which have been painted in a variety of ways and with different colors. Using your imagination, these layered structures convey dimensions of speed and freshness along with continuity and a deliberate randomness. The different paint coatings produce very different perceptions on the textured substrates. Below you can see two examples of his unique work.

Koen Delaere’s work is currently exhibited in a solo show named ‘Wipe That Simile Of Your Aphasia’ at Rod Barton Gallery Brussels, Belgium. The show runs from March 10 – April 16, 2016. For further information about the artist, feel free and have a look at his website.
