Wooden island residence in the natural environment of Edgartown, Massachusetts.
The team of Peter Rose + Partners has completed this wooden island residence in the natural environment of Edgartown, Massachusetts. The house is situated on the island of Chappaquiddick close to Edgartown, Massachusetts. This architectural project is intended to be a holiday home for a young family of five. It’s located between the ocean to the west and a shallow bay to the east. Both, main house as well as boathouse of the plot are carefully placed to optimize the experience of the buildings, while minimizing their impact on the natural environment. The unpainted wood weathered over time to form a seemingly natural part of the landscape. The external timber cladding is interrupted by large, fully operable glass windows, which provide a great view of the ocean and the beautiful landscape.
