Below you can see a selection of the Anomaly series by artist Matthew Grabelsky. Matthew Grabelsky was born in Los Angeles and raised in New York. He graduated from Rice University in 2002 with a BA in Art and Art History and a BS in Astrophysics. Thereafter, he moved to Florence, Italy, where he spent 4 years studying the techniques of classical art, followed by a two and a half year stay in Paris. These experiences shaped his artistic style.
In his paintings, he combines impressions of the real physical world around us with different imagery from mythology, dreams, and fairytales. Derived from his earlier studies, he paints in a highly realistic manner. He uses this visual language to create modern narratives. He places his subjects and characters in contemporary settings such as cosmopolitan cityscapes, roads, trains, etc. His artworks often show a humorous illustration of our everyday life.
