Casa AR, a private residence in Ciudad López Mateos, Mexico created by the architectural firm of Lucio Muniain.
Casa AR was designed as a private residence in 2011. The house is located in Ciudad López Mateos, Mexico. It’s basically a composition of frames, which form a harmonious interplay of shapes and contrasts as well as light and shadow. Designed by the Mexico City based architectural firm of Lucio Muniain, this house is an excellent and refined example of pure minimalism in today’s architecture. Read more below.
Due to the combination of a variety of frames in different dimensions and directions, the architects have created a vivid composition with a striking rhythm. Nevertheless, the different volumes form a well-balanced unit. Casa AR’s sculptural appearance can be perceived as a modern piece of art. The dimensions of this 875 sqm residence are difficult to guess from the outside because of the decontextualized method of construction.
Both interior and exterior spaces are characterized by this almost artistic arrangement of different frames. The predominantly white walls facilitate the interplay of light and shadow. Due to the use of wooden frames as well as marble flooring inside the house, the architects have added a few subtle details.
