A small mountain home in western Serbia by EXE studio.
Completed in 2015, this idyllic little mountain home near Divčibare was designed by EXE studio. The house is situated on the slope of Mount Maljen overlooking the rural landscape of western Serbia. Surrounded by a hilly terrain with small pine trees, the house is literally built into the hillside in order to impair the natural environment as little as possible. Based on the combination of two monolithic volumes (light and dark), this architectural concept refers to its environment of low pine vegetation and the steep rocky terrain. More information below.
These seemingly opposing monolithic volumes combine modern architectural shapes with a traditional construction. The combination of the white portion of the house and the traditional timber shingle cladding acts like a transition from the artificial to the natural. Furthermore, the wooden half creates a connection to original mountain homes. A large window to the front provides picturesque views of the rural landscape. Please see more below.
