VOYAGE, a poetic journey consisting of 12 illustrations by Thomas Danthony.
Thomas Danthony is a London based artist, illustrator, and designer. In 2015, he has created “VOYAGE”, a series of paintings that serve as invitations to a poetic journey. Inspired by distant countries and exotic places, the artworks convey a touch of romance and mystery.
Comprising 12 paintings and digital prints, along with a window display installation, VOYAGE was Thomas Danthony’s first solo exhibition, which was held in Paris at gallery Sergeant Paper in September 2015. The narrative images take you on a dreamy trip. Using your own imagination, you will find yourself placed in a variety of situations full of romance and mystery. Thomas Danthony has created these images using a special technique derivated from 19th Century stencil art reproduction. This technique allows a reproduction of only three times, before each stencil is completely destroyed. Everything you can see here was created entirely by hand, which makes every artwork slightly different and unique. Each image has been painted with gouache on A4 315gsm paper.
