Posting letters, a personal project by Nei Valente and Kate Cullinane.
A romantic relationship between Nei Valente and Kate Cullinane turned into a cross-continental postcard project when one of them had to leave. The two designers were dating for 4 months in New York City until Nei had to go back to Brazil. Not wanting to lose contact, Kate and Nei came up with an idea that would let them keep in touch and indulge their love of typography. For one year, the two designers took various pictures of random letters they saw on the streets and on signs in New York City and São Paulo. Thereafter, they have been printed onto postcards and then sent back and forth to each other in alphabetical order. The resulting collection depicts the expressive artistic culture found in both cities. The project ended in summer 2016 and they are still living in different cities.
Kate Cullinane, originally from New Zealand, is now based in San Francisco, where she’s working as a designer for Apple. Nei Valente (Portfolio/Instagram), originally from Brazil, is back in New York, where he’s currently working at Brand Union.
