Postcards from Pripyat, Chernobyl – A haunting look of these abandoned places filmed by Danny Cooke.
Whilst working for CBS News on a ’60 Minutes’ episode, freelance filmmaker Danny Cooke had the opportunity to capture some haunting footage of Chernobyl and Pripyat.
Chernobyl’s nuclear disaster in 1986 had an effect on so many people also hundreds and thousands of miles away. Also today, the immediate region is still a contaminated area and by far not a safe place for filming. Armed with a camera and a dosimeter geiger counter, Danny Cooke explored these abandoned places. Together with his guide Yevgen, he spent one week exploring Chernobyl and the nearby abandoned city of Pripyat.
