We Come From Another Universe 我哋嚟自另外一個世界。, a photographic series inspired by Hong Kong cinema.
Inès Chtouki is a self-taught photographer specializing in stylistic imagery. After studying film with a focus on direction and stage direction, she moved to Paris to work as an art director for Wanda and Iconoclast. Driven by her fascination for Asia and Hong Kong cinema, she started to apply these cultural influences to her personal projects. “I wanted to create an exaggerated visual universe, saturated, out of time and make you wonder if this pixel or the chromatic aberration is done on purpose. I always liked to suggest things rather than saying it directly. ‘Unspoken’ is a place for dreamy feelings.”—Inès Chtouki says.
We Come From Another Universe (我哋嚟自另外一個世界。) is Inès Chtouki’s latest photographic series, which is deeply inspired by Hong Kong cinema. It’s a stylistic exercise questioning the relationship between space, time, and the perception of something imaginary which comes from the far east. The series is a playful take on colors, giving them a surreal dimension that matches perfectly with the environment. A few photographs of the series can be found below.
