Koen Lybaert was born in 1965 in Wilrijk, Belgium. He is a contemporary artist who creates abstract paintings mainly with oil or watercolor on paper or canvas. His technique consists of careful layering that creates a subtle mixture of overlapping colors and shapes. The paintings show an abstract view of the natural landscapes around him. Koen Lybaert is mostly inspired by forests, lakes, mountains, the sea, and desolate landscapes. The contemporary paintings are based on his own photographs.
