During Tortona Design Week 2018, Containerwerk & Friends present spatial concepts based on the themes of micro-living and temporary living.

More than 300,000 visitors are expected at the Milan Design Week in 2018. At the largest and most important furniture fair in the world, the leading brands in the industry present their developments and innovations every year. The Stuttgart, Germany based startup Containerwerk also presents itself in this context with some partners at the Tortona Design Week and presents spatial concepts based on the topics of micro-living and temporary living.

How can we create high-quality living space on increasingly scarce land? How can we enable livable living at fair prices? How can our high mobility needs and the principle of “home” be reconciled? These are the questions which the Stuttgart-based startup Containerwerk is tackling. Their aim is to provide answers to important questions of our time. For this purpose, Containerwerk buys used sea freight containers and transforms them into high-quality living space in a multi-patented insulation process. Thanks to an automated and serial production process, Containerwerk is able to produce large quantities at low prices in consistently high quality and with maximum energy efficiency.
At the Tortona Design Week, Containerwerk & Friends present two concepts of living in these newly refined architectural building blocks and provide space to think together about the future of living and playfully analyze the available architectural possibilities.

The installation “Micro-living” deals with the possibilities of a great quality of life in a small space and inspires a change of perspective. In a single container, the company combines everything that one needs to live – and a little more. They prove that limited space can be compensated with technical sophistication and creativity. The installations “Micro-living” and “Temporary Living” will be on show at the Tortona Design Week in Via Tortona 31 in Milan, Italy, from April 17 to April 22, 2018.
