Discover the depth and elegance of hyper-realistic black and white ink drawings.
Some of you may remember our first feature of Alessandro Paglia’s hyper-realistic pen artworks. The Milan, Italy based artist has recently sent me a selection of new drawings, which I wanted to share with you immediately. Alessandro says he always loved the power, depth, and elegance of simple black and white. Unlike graphite, the use of ink allows him to create a very intense contrast, giving the illustrations a unique expressive power. His subjects are mostly pieces of design history and contemporary objects. His aim is to turn these objects into artworks.
“My process is quite simple”, Alessandro explains. “I choose and photograph the subject, draw the outlines in pencil and then meticulously reproduce it with thin technical black ink pens on rough grain paper, laying layers of ink in a repeating pattern of little circles.”
Drawings are also available on commission in custom sizes up to 113 x 940 cm. To see more of Alessandro Paglia’s outstanding work, please visit his Instagram account.

Absolutely unreal. Can’t believe these are all pen on paper artworks.
