The Black Desert House in Yucca Valley, California.
The team of Oller & Pejic Architecture has completed the Black Desert House located in the Yucca Valley of California. The plot is situated close to Palm Springs, east of Los Angeles in the high desert near the Joshua Tree National Park.
After a first meeting with the client, the team of Oller & Pejic Architecture knew that this is an architectural project like nothing else they have done before. Planning a house like that in a desert is never an easy job. The architects had to deal with some technical and regulatory challenges. Together with the client, a long process of brainstorming had begun to find the perfect architectural concept.
Oller & Pejic Architecture came up with the idea of arranging the rooms in a linear sequence from living room to bedrooms with the kitchen and dining area in the center. All spaces are placed around an inner courtyard, which provides shade and protection.
