Tim Barber was born on February 5, 1979. He grew up in Amherst Massachusetts. Later he lived a few years in the mountains of Northern Vermont before he studied photography in Vancouver B.C.
Today, Tim Barber lives and works as a professional portrait and fashion photographer in New York City. Besides his work as a photographer, he is also active as curator and designer. From 2003 – 2005, he has worked as photo editor for the famous Vice Magazine. In 2005, he also founded an online gallery and image archive called tinyvices.com, which was released as a free App in 2010. In 2013, the app evolved into time-and-space.tv, a curated online community for artists. In 2008, Tim Barber co-curated the inaugural New York Photo Festival. He has curated and edited a collection of monographs, which have been published by the Aperture Foundation in 2008. He also launched the independent publishing house TV Books (2008-2010).
