Contortion by Ingrid Maillard

Contortion – drawings with color and graphite on paper by Ingrid Maillard.

Ingrid Maillard is a french visual artist and illustrator who currently lives and works in Paris. With a BA in Fine Arts from La Cambre in Brussels, Belgium, she mainly works with graphite on paper. Her preferred field of study is the human body with all its diverse lines and shades. Deeply inspired by Mannerism, Ingrid always tries to keep in mind all these small anomalies that draw the viewer’s attention. In her manifold body of work she used different types of drawing techniques in order to reflect interactions between different bodies and certain movements. Please read more below the first image.

With this kind of poetic view, Ingrid Maillard’s Contortion series acts like a homage to the diversity of the human body. Using delicate lines in different shades, distances and strengths, her pictures explore and represent unique details of each body. A few examples can be found below. You can see more images of the series as well as other artworks on her website or follow this talented artist on Behance.
