Alternative album covers for Blink 182 created as a student project by Brandon Fretwell.

Brandon Fretwell is currently studying graphic design at California State University in Chico. For a student project, he wanted to bring music and design together. After the release of California – Blink 182’s seventh studio album since 2011, Brandon has decided to redesign all of their album covers. Furthermore, he wanted to explore the music more closely in order to commemorate their outstanding career in the form of a special vinyl box set.

This is what  Brandon has to say about his work: “Before online streaming, bands were remembered by the iconic artwork found on the albums they released. Building upon this idea, I decided to redesign all of their 7 album covers so that each of them would highlight key design elements found in each artwork. Unifying the design with basic shapes and color palette found within the original covers.”

Check out all the covers below. For those who want to see more of Brandon Fretwell’s graphic design projects, please visit his portfolio on Behance.

  1. Saw a Pink Floyd album in the early 70’s that pictured two Pterodactyls flying in a dark, stormy sky. I haven’t found it ever since. I saw it at Chowan college, in a dorm. I distinctly remember the scene, and the unmistakable continuous music on one side. Was this just a bootleg, or an actual album?
