Athlete Installations in Rio de Janeiro by JR

French artist JR has created two gigantic athlete installations in Rio de Janeiro in anticipation of the 2016 Summer Olympics.

You may have seen one of his latest installations where the French artist has chosen the pyramid of the Louvre to make it disappear. Attention, here comes something new! In anticipation of the 2016 Summer Olympics, JR was invited to create two gigantic athlete installations across the city of Rio de Janeiro. Both installations are part of his ongoing ‘inside out’ project. The first installation, a high jumper, was built on a tall residential building. It represents the 27-year old Sudan-born, Germany-based athlete, Mohamed Younes Idriss. He unfortunately missed out on qualification for the 2016 Rio Olympics. Anyways, with this giant installation above the roofs of the city he will be there some how. The second installation, a diver, was built near the water. Below you can see detailed images of both athlete installations. For more of JR’s extraordinary projects, feel free and visit his website.
