Alice Morishita was born in 1982 in Tokyo, Japan. Today she lives and works in Berlin, Germany. Art has always been an important part in her life. In her early childhood, she started to paint with watercolor, acrylic, pastels, ink, pencil, etc. In 2001, Alice Morishita went to Italy to study fashion design at Istituto Marangoni Milan, Italy. After only one year she had to cancel her studies due to financial difficulties. Thereafter she returned to Japan, where she worked in the fashion industry. Driven by her passion for art, she quit her job after 8 years to move to Europe again. After some time in Paris, she finally moved to Berlin to exert her artistic abilities. Her work is mainly inspired by nature and antique materials. Alice Morishita’s drawings often depict human bodies with animal heads, which reflects a deep connection with nature. She finds beauty in the human body as well as diverse movements. Alice says she learns a lot by observing insects and other animals.

From September 2 – September 22, 2016, Berlin based Nomad Store & Gallery proudly presents a selection Alice Morishita’s mixed media artworks in the exhibition ‘Trails of the Soul’. The opening will take place on September 2, at 7 pm.
